Fort Benning Water System Master Plan

Fort Benning, GA

Owner: Columbus Water Works

Project Stage: Complete

Award Winner: Engineering Excellence Honor Award, American Council of Engineering Companies of Alabama

Description: Project included a comprehensive master plan for the water infrastructure system at Fort Benning related to the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) program. The BRAC program relocates approximately 30,000 personnel over a four-year time frame to Fort Benning, nearly doubling the size of the installation. Project included the development of the hydraulic network computer model of the potable water distribution system, calibration testing, and development of existing and future base-wide demands at four and 30-year intervals. Coordination efforts involved dissemination of BRAC's development plans and associated water demands for the next four years to Columbus Water Works and three additional consultants. Existing needs were identified for the water distribution system along with the required improvements appropriately phased to meet BRAC's construction program.
