Navigating Lean Times with a Building & Facility Assessment Survey – A Technical Presentation

Presented by Phil Black, AIA, LEED AP at the School Superintendents of Alabama (SSA) Fall Conference in Florence, Alabama on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 10 am.*

Navigating lean times and limited budgets?  Prioritizing capital improvement budgets a headache?  A Building & Facility Assessment Survey (BFAS) takes the mystery out of capital planning by coupling detailed building analysis with a simple numeric scoring system.

This presentation will educate you on the following benefits of implementing a BFAS:

  • Educators and administrators understand numerical scores. A BFAS organizes the detailed evaluation of school facilities into a straight forward numerical scoring matrix; identifying problem areas.
  • A BFAS establishes a bench mark of the overall viability and long term value of a single building, school campus, or multiple facilities; a useful tool with operations funding and capital planning.
  • A BFAS links your need to see the “Big Picture” with the organized, detailed building condition inventory needs of a facility director or operations manager.

About the Presenter: Philip E. Black, AIA, LEED AP, has 31+ years of design experience and is Director of Architecture at Krebs Architecture & Engineering, Inc.
